Forecast Bar - Weather + Radar App Reviews

Great app for weather nerds… and it’ll keep getting better

Updating my original review - I would give 10 stars if possible. This is now the #1 weather app and nothing else is close. The clearest displays, the best data source, and the broadest array of data presented in an intuitive way. They recently added AerisWeather radar, which was great. And version 2.5 adds a broad selection of icons. This is the one weather app to rule them all! ———— (original review below) I am a bit of a weather nerd… I seem to collect weather apps. Hands down, my favorite forecasting service is forecast.io, and I was psyched to see Forecast Bar put forecast.io in my menu bar. The developers did a great job responding to some issues in 1.1, and if you visit their support page, you’ll see that they are *super* active in improving the app even further, and responsive to user comments. Well worth the price!

Great App but frequent (too frequent?) updates

This app is great and i have used it for a while, but it seems i cannot open the App Store without having to update this app. it seems to be updated every other day!

Beats launching a web page

A broad array of weather without having to launch a browser. I’ve used it far more than I ever expected.

Too many Updates!!!!

If I get another update this week will delete this app. This app updates more than any program I have ever owned went from 3 stars to 1 star due to the frequent updates.

An outstanding weather application

This really is the premier weather app on the Mac app store. It’s feature rich without being cluttered and it’s constantly updated with new options. I searched for some time before finally trying out this weather app. It works perfectly in the menubar and I’m completely satisfied with it. I wanted to add that the frequent updates are a good thing! So many app developers abandon their applications and rarely update them. Forecast Bar is one of the exceptions and has timely updates with some pretty useful options.

Great weather app for the Mac from responsive developer

Really nice weather app! Very handy to have the temperature in the menu bar and the forecast just a click away. Also, I had notified the developer that Forecast Bar had a dependency that caused a switch from the battery-friendly Integrated Graphics to the power-sucking Discrete Graphics on the MacBook Pro and it was quickly fixed! I’m happy to report that version 2.5.2 no longer switches to the discrete graphics adapter.

Is now a 5 star app!

Hands down, this is the best app for weather on the app store. I’ve bought just about all of them searching for the perfect weather app, and it’s the best. It’s not bloated. It doesn’t require you to run something from the dock, and it gives all the information you could want from the menu bar. It’s attractive, highly accurate, very stable. WIth the addition of an iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV apps and the ability to sync everything across ALL devices - It’s literally the only app that anyone should be looking at. Great job!

Excellent weather program with frequent updates

Too often programs from small developers, both great and bad, languish after publication. Not this product! Not only is it competently designed, Forecast Bar uses one of the best weather feeds for data in forecast.io and the developer keeps it up to date. Part of what I enjoy about the product is that it keeps out of your way, except when you need it in the menu bar and/or notification panel.

Best weather app I’ve come across

I’ve tried a number of menu bar weather apps and this is far and away the best. Simple, intuitive and attractive. Well worth the money.

Great weather bar!

Love the program, very concise and clear forcast. only negative is the radar, when it refreshes its slow and gets all choppy. you also cant select things like fronts or anything to overlay on the radar, just clouds and alerts. you cant click and active alert to see what it is on the radar map either; no pinch to zoom, just a + and - button.

Best weather app yet

Developers have figured out how to present a remarkable amount of detailed information graphically, showing as much or as little as you want to see. Forecasts are detailed to the point of “rain starting at 8:15 pm,” charts show not just likelihood of rain, but also predicted rainfall volume. Brilliantly usable, and unlike my previous go-to weather app, the severe weather alerts work perfectly. Worth every penny. iPad version is likewise a gem.

Look no further

Absolutely all the 5 star reviews here are right on. All I originally wanted was the current temp in my menu bar. So when my free Degrees app stopped loading with the recent El Capitan updates I started looking. This was the only one that put a clean temp number in the menu bar but at first I balked at the price. Then I bought it and balked at going for the yet extra charge for more than hourly updates. But the developers claim of being charged more themselves for more frequent than their basic hourly updates made total sense, so I went for their 15 minute updates too. Then this morning I fire up my Mac and in addition to the temp showing up, I get three different amazing, info-filled screens, one of which says there will be a light rain starting in 13 minutes and will last for 50 minutes. 15 minutes later it arrived as advertised, and since I was about to walk my dog and really didn’t want to take an umbrella, by then I was a total believer and was sure “light rain” was correct. So I donned my normal light cloth jacket and baseball cap, and came back 30 minutes later with shoulders only slightly damp. Enough said?

Issue

I wanted to purchase number 4. 10 Minute updates for life and was unable to do so not sure if it is fixed where I can Apple refunded my money from receiving number 3. instead of number 4 10 minit updates for one year. I would like to purchase what i wanted. Other than that it is the best probram for weather I have found I have purchased several never found what I was looking for until now. Thanks for you product hope my issues is fixed now. If it was I give it a five star rating it is the best software for weather I have found.

Please stop the frickin’ updates!!

I know this is a weird review, but would you please tone down the update frequency? I have this installed on a few family Macs and the incessant need to have small updates for the apps is a nightmare - I feel like I’m on Windows all the time. I wouldn’t care as much if you wouldn’t FORCE PEOPLE to update all the time (i.e. let older versions keep working), but it’s a mess when I have older family members who get a barrage of update warnings/notices/app stops working until they do…. arggh!! Sheesh. Please tone it down… It’s a weather app - We don’t need an update every week to fix some small nothing.

NO TITLE

CONSTANT, ALMOST DAILY UPDATES!!!

iCloud sync is so awesome!!

This is definitely my favorite weather app for the Mac. It offers incredible accuracy due to Forecast.io, and it also gives you a bunch of different levels of depth. If you just care about temperature and conditions, the menu bar has you covered. If you want to see more, including forecasts and gorgeous images, you tap on the menu bar. Tapping again on any of the forecasts or conditions pulls up really nice animated charts and further detail. Overall, awesome job and well worth the money which at first had me nervous..

Updates Often, Flawless App

This is the most amazing weather app! Intuitive, easy to use, yet informative UI. Love it!

Great App!

Most accureate weather app ive found for Mac. I have tried every weather app and was most recently Using Carrot but I much prefer this apps Design and interface. Its simply easy to read customizable and even supports Dark mode. I love that the app is easily accessible from anywhere. Highly recommend to everyone.

A great mix of style and functionality

Most weather apps are nothing more than screensavers with weather information! Forecast Bar is the exception.

Best Weather App for Mac (To Date)

I have tried several weather apps over the years, and each of them had their strengths and weaknesses. Basically, over time I wanted a weather app to be not just 1) functional, but 2) beautiful, and Forecast Bar has fulfilled those criteria! The ability to open it with a recorded keystroke of your choice, plus the extensive details of current conditions, forecast as many as 5 days out, along with very accurate predictions of precipitation, it has become my “go-to” app when it comes to weather here on the Mac. Also, their radar is very good, showing the current radar very well. And, with them drawing from the same weather info and algorithms as Dark Sky make it very reliable. Although the pricing may “shun” some people, I believe it’s quite worth it to purchase, and getting the 10-minute updates for a year ($9.99) is well worth it, as I’m a “weather geek”…. Go ahead and get it, as SURELY this is much better than purchasing a bag of air from Kobe’s last game (it’s true!!!!; LOL)…. At least your money here will be well spent!!
